"Please stop!" I yelled at the man in front of me, burying my head in my arms.
But he ignored my words. He kicked me hard in the abdomen knocking me to the ground. My back ached hardly and it felt like my spine was broken. I couldn’t help but sob.
“Shut the fuck up!!!”My dad slapped me in the face. I felt a searing pain in my cheek. At least today he wasn't drunk so that I didn't have to worry about the broken bottles being shoved into my thighs. It was much more difficult to suffer than a slap.
I couldn’t believe that this was how a so-called father treated his daughter. I have been abused by him since I started to remember things. I have never felt warmth from family for even a single day in my life.
Sometimes I would hope that mom would comfort me, hugging me tightly in her warm embrace. But I have never seen her. My mother died when she was giving birth to me. Maybe that could explain why my father treated me like that. I took away his wife’s life.
Werewolves were born to find their mates. When a werewolf reached adult age, it could scent out the smell of its mate. Once a male werewolf claimed his mate, they were bonded with each other for the rest of their life, until they were parted by death. My mother had become my father’s mate for merely two years when she gave birth to me. No werewolf would forgive the ones who killed their mates, not even their child.
"Get back to your room! No dinner tonight!!” I was dragged back into reality by my father’s shouting.
My legs were too trembling to support my body so I stood up from the floor with my hands. I felt extremely dizzy when I got up but I did not dare to make any sounds before I walked upstairs.
As soon as I entered my room, I locked the door and slid down along it. I buried my head in my arms and tears started to roll down on my knees. The tears were so hot that they nearly burned my skin.
I walked into the bathroom and stripped off myself. I saw a girl whose body was covered with scars and bruises standing in front of the mirror. I stroke them softly. Some were new and some had accompanied me for years.
I heard a large door slam from downstairs. Dad went out for liquor as usual and I knew he wouldn’t be back home until tomorrow. Suddenly a crazy idea flashed into my mind.
I had to leave here.
I took a shower as quickly as I could before I started to pack up. Thank god I didn’t have much stuff so I got my luggage packed for just a few minutes.
My head was about to explode and my arms were feeble but I couldn’t care much for that. I took a last gaze at the room in which I have been living for 17 years. Then I walked out of the door without any hesitation.
The street was empty and quiet since it was already bedtime. The piercing wind made me sober. I could imagine how mad dad would be when he knew I was gone and it chilled me to the bone.
I didn’t even know where I could go. But the only thing I was sure about was I had to escape from this hell.
I looked up at the sky. The moon was shining brightly like a lamp. So I decided to follow it. I would go wherever it led me.
I trudged through the thick forest. Soon it started to rain. It wasn’t long before it got heavy. The heavy rain poured down on me. My vision was blurred as it dropped on my face. My clothes were heavy from the mounting amount of water that saturated them. The rain pelted down onto my moving body and soaked me to the bone. What’s worse, the cold wind whipped at my form. I wrapped myself tightly with my coat, wrapping my arms around myself and attempting to conserve some form of warmth, although it was futile. My wolf remained curled up in the corner of my mind, also shivering all over with cold.
As I kept stepping on the small puddles, my boots squished. They were already stained by the muddy ground and gradually soaked. The freezing temperature of the rainwater soon led my toes to stiffness.
The pelting rain kept going and there was no sign for the rainfall intensity to reduce. I had no idea about how long I had been walking in this heavy. I was exhausted but I did not dare stop to look for a shelter. I raised my hand beneath my forehead, trying to prevent the pelting rain from blurring my vision.
I had no idea about how long I had been trudging across the forest in rain. Gradually the rainfall started to slack to drizzle. I nearly yelped in shock when a wooden house appeared in my view. My heart rate increased and my wolf got excited. As I walked closer, I saw more and more houses before I realized I arrived in another pack.
I stood in front of one of the houses and knocked at the door. I collapsed in complete exhaustion before I waited for someone to answer the door. My body was weak from being kept in such poor conditions but I was finally free. Then the darkness from sleep overtook my deprived body. I couldn’t tell that I was safe but at least I was finally free from my brutal father. “I'm finally out of hell.” I said to myself.
